Bulawayo Deputy Mayor, Cllr Mlandu Ncube had proposed that it was best to rename a road close to the ZITF grounds after the Kenyan leader. Local Government and Public Works Minister July Moyo requested Bulawayo City Council to rename a road after Kenyatta in terms of the Names (Alteration) Act. Kenyatta cancelled his visit to Zimbabwe for the trade fair following the death of Kenya’s former president, Mwai Kibaki.
