*Police Tighten Kwekwe Lockdown* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?po Police have tightened movement restrictions in Kwekwe, with no vehicles coming in or leaving the city. The Officer Commanding Kwekwe District, Chief Superintendent Denford Maingire on Tuesday told NewZimbabwe.com that they had decided to be more vigilant in enforcement of the lockdown. He said: ---------- itel A70 256GB $99USD WhatsApp: https://wa.me/+263715068543 Calls: 0772464000 ---------- > We are trying our best in enforcing COVID-19 regulations in the city. We had two meetings with the minister responsible for COVID-19 mitigation and monitoring in the (Midlands) province (Larry Mavima) and another here in Kwekwe. > We have agreed we are going to be stringent and stricter in ensuring that we implement and enforce COVID-19 regulations considering that cases are on the increase. > We are restricting the movement of vehicles that are coming into the city or leaving the city. People have different excuses some are genuine whilst others are flimsy. Sometimes we face difficulties in enforcing the restrictions. Maingire urged members of the public to avoid unnecessary movement within the district as it has become a COVID-19 hotspot. He said: > We have decided to come here today (Tuesday) and we are trying our best. That’s why you are seeing the congestion of vehicles from the motorists who are piling up from both ends. > Cases of COVID-19 are on the increase and people must stop unnecessary movement particularly into this hot zone. Kwekwe is located along the highway that links Harare and Bulawayo, and other major cities, and towns such as Gweru, Kadoma, Chegutu, and Norton. And following the tightening of movement restrictions by police, long queues at the police controlled roadblocks were forming as some motorists were told to make U-turns. Kwekwe has been under lockdown for several weeks after the COVID-19 Delta variant was first detected in the gold mining city. *More: NewZimbabwe.com* _If you found this article useful_ *Please support Pindula by forwarding to friends and groups*
