According to the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstat), the inflation rate for January increased by 0.01 percentage points to 2.76 on the December 2020 rate of 2.75%. The blended inflation entails a combination of inflation for prices that are quoted in US dollars and inflation for prices quoted in Zimbabwe dollars. On Monday Zimstat it had upgraded its systems to allow for up to date production of inflation data. The statistics body said: > Zimstat would like to inform users that from January 21, the Consumer Price Index will the disseminated in the same month of data collection. > This has been made possible by the adoption of computerisation in data collection and processing. Prior to this, data collection was paper-based.
