*Some Shops Owners Start Rejecting Ecocash And Swipe Cards - Report* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?rf Some retail shops and liquor shops in the metropolitan town of Bulawayo are reportedly rejecting mobile money and electronic payments for their services insisting that consumers pay them in bond notes or in forex only, New Zimbabwe reports. According to the publication, the said retailers are saying their POS machines are not working whenever someone wants to purchase their products electronically. ---------- Latest itel S24 available on Pindula: 128GB storage $119 USD WhatsApp +263783450793 ---------- Customers affected by this practice spoke to the publication and said: > I am a civil servant and I am only paid through RTGS. Now, the major challenge is that shops and beer outlets especially those in the high-density suburbs where I stay are refusing to accept electronic cards and Eco-Cash. Another consumer said some retailers are buying their stuff using local currency but reselling in USD: > A bottle store in my area sells all its products in foreign currency yet the owner buys the products from local suppliers using the local currency. This is unfair and this profiteering should be investigated by relevant authorities. When contacted for comment, a local bottle store owner explained why the practice was taking place in the country’s second-largest city: > There are some products like green quarts which we buy from Delta strictly on foreign currency basis. So you cannot expect me to sell that same product using Eco-Cash or Swipe. If I do that, I will not be able to re-stock The government mid this year gave businesses the go-ahead to charge their goods and services in foreign currency when the Zimbabwe dollar’s value continued to deteriorate due to inflation.
