Read the statement in part: The United States has approved more than US$230 million ($230 373 521) to support the fight against HIV in Zimbabwe and achieve epidemic control through a comprehensive package of prevention, treatment and support services. With 1,3 million Zimbabweans on anti-retroviral therapy (Art), Pepfar will continue to increase client access to viral load monitoring, while strengthening and expanding efforts to improve retention of clients on Art and viral suppression, particularly among children, adolescents and pregnant women. The donation comes when Zimbabwe’s Health Minister Dr Obadiah Moyo had indicated that the fight against other diseases and conditions including HIV/AIDS and malaria was being hamstrung by the emergence of the deadly virus which saw most of the resources channelled towards it.
