In a statement released on Monday, ZIMTA said the government should provide COVID-19 testing kits in all schools ahead of the Second Term to control the spread of the disease thus protecting teachers who are the key ingredients to the provision of quality public education in Zimbabwe. The statement reads in part: ---------- itel A70 256GB $99USD WhatsApp: https://wa.me/+263715068543 Calls: 0772464000 ---------- > Zimta is calling on the Government of Zimbabwe to consider postponing the sitting of June and November examinations until a well-informed analysis of the impact of COVID-19 has been done. > As educators, we stand ready to work with the Government of Zimbabwe in combating and eradicating the COVID-19 pandemic amongst educators, learners and parents. > Educators look forward to the Government’s support in achieving this vital goal. The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) recently announced that public examinations were going ahead unless a directive came from the government, and called on parents and guardians to ensure that they register their children on time. Schools closed prematurely for the end of the First Term after President Emmerson Mnangagwa banned public gatherings to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. *More: The Herald* _If you found this article useful_ *Please support Pindula by forwarding to friends and groups*
