The state has withdrawn its case against local clergyman and political activist Evan Mawarire Pindula has learnt. This was publicized by Pastor Evan himself when he tweeted:

> After almost 11 months of detention on bail the state has withdrawn their fake treason charges. We should never have been arrested to begin with. Thank you for yo prayers & support. We keep speaking up for the abused & vulnerable of our country @ZLHRLawyers @AmnestySARO @HRF

Mawarire is one of the 20+ people who were charged with treason in 2019 only. Evan was charged after he was seen in a video calling for Zimbabweans to stay away in protesting fuel price hike in January together with ZCTU President Peter Mutasa.
