The MDC has expressed its condolences to the Takawira and Chikuni families following the passing on of party activists, Amire Takawira and Paul Chikuni in a road accident on Sunday. Posting on social media platforms, the MDC said:

> MDC mourns with the Takawira and Chikuni Families

> The MDC family expresses its heartfelt sorrow and deepest condolences to both the Takawira and Chikuni families following the death of Admire Takawira and Paul Chikuni in a road accident near Ruwa on Sunday night.

> The two were active and prominent leaders of the people’s party in the Mashonaland East province.

> Takawira will be buried in Berejena, in Chivi; while Chikuni will be buried in Marondera.

> May their souls rest in eternal peace
