The bid for the hunting concession had attracted four bidders with Matupula Hunters wining the bid on 16 April as they had the highest bid. Another bidder, Lodzi Hunters, however, challenged the tender process to the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ). Lodzi Hunters alleged that the process had gross irregularities leading to PRAZ embarking on a review process which exposed the alleged criminal offences resulting in Sibanda’s arrest. The magistrate did not ask Sibanda to plead to the charges but remanded him out of custody to 15 October on $400 bail.
