*"Dr. Magombeyi Needs Urgent Medical Treatment" Amnesty International* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?bp Amnesty International Deputy Regional Director for Southern Africa, Muleya Mwananyanda, has criticised the police’s attempts to block the acting president of Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association, Peter Magombeyi from seeking further treatment from South Africa. Mwananyanda said that the police were infringing Magombeyi’s right to access health care. In a statement, Mwananyanda said: ---------- itel A70 256GB $99USD WhatsApp: https://wa.me/+263715068543 Calls: 0772464000 ---------- > Cruel denial of travel for medical treatment puts medical union leader’s health at risk. > Not allowing Magombeyi to travel to seek medical treatment outside Zimbabwe is a cruel denial that puts his health at risk. > That anyone can be treated this way by the state is unbelievable – and is made worse by the fact that he’s already faced a terrible ordeal and abduction. This ill-treatment at the hands of the authorities is now endangering his health. > Dr. Magombeyi needs urgent medical treatment. The longer he stays in Zimbabwe, the more his health deteriorates. Zimbabwean authorities must immediately allow him to travel wherever he wants to seek medical treatment. Magombeyi’s health condition, however, remains unknown after the police and government lawyers issued varying statements. The police said that the doctor was in an astable condition contrary to circulating allegations that he was now wheelchair-bound after being electrocuted. State lawyers, applying for Magombeyi’s continued detention at the Avenues Hospital, argued that Magombeyi was unfit to travel. Information Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa also said that medical tests had been conducted on the doctor but were yet to be availed.
