Chombo who is jointly charged with Lazarus Chimba for criminal abuse of duty was ordered by Harare magistrate Mrs Barbra Mateko to abide by the same bail conditions of his other cases. Chimba was remanded out of custody on his own recognition. ---------- Pindula is best experienced with the Android App. *Download APK here:* https://zero.pindula.co.zw/media/apps/apks/pindula23.apk _On Econet, Pindula does NOT use your data_ ---------- The State alleges that Chombo and Chimba showed favour to former Mutare South MP, Fred Kanzama when they sold him a government house after they had denied Joyce Munamati, who was the acting provincial registrar for Manicaland Province. Kanzama approached Chombo after Munamati had already been denied to buy the house which was reserved for provincial registrars for Manicaland Province. Chombo allegedly instructed Chimba to sell the house to Kanzama and he did for ZW$70 trillion which was duly paid. The State argues that Chombo and Chimba, being public officers, unlawfully and intentionally acted contrary to or inconsistent with their duties by showing favour to Kanzama and disfavour to Munamati. Kanzama and Munamati were in a relationship that produced a son but were not staying together. Mateko deferred the matter to September 4. Chombo’s lawyer, Professor Lovemore Madhuku, has since given the State notice that he will make an application for refusal of remand on September 4.
