*MDC Councillors Implicated In Illegal Stands Fraud* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?ul Some councillors in Marondera belonging to the opposition MDC Alliance are reportedly illegally selling residential stands in Hunyani Timberlands. News Day reports that the councillors are collecting money from people, promising to give them land currently being targeted by an investor who is set to construct 17 000 housing units once the deal is approved by Cabinet. One of News Day sources said: ---------- Latest itel S24 available on Pindula: 128GB storage $119 USD WhatsApp +263783450793 ---------- > The party leadership was notified of the actions by some of the councillors who are collecting various amounts of money from residents on the pretext that there will be stands in Hunyani Timberlands. The leaders in Marondera are seized with the matter and have since warned the culprits. Marondera district MDC Alliance spokesperson, Farai Nyandoro, could not authenticate the allegations. He said: > I am not sure as to the authenticity of the claim or allegation of such rumours. It is, however, a criminal act for any councillor to go about collecting money from desperate home-seekers as councillors are not council employees. Marondera mayor Chengetai Murowa yesterday blamed the councillors implicated in the scandal saying that they were tarnishing the image of the MDC. Murowa said that the party was law-abiding and anyone involved in corrupt dealings must be punished. In 2015, thousands of home-seekers were duped by Zanu PF which promised them stands during elections campaigns. Resultantly residents paid $1500 for the stands in Elmswood which have not yet been delivered.
