The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat) has revealed that the month-on-month inflation increased from 1,67 per cent in February to 4,3 per cent in March.

The Agency released a report on Monday in which it said that prices of goods and services as measured by the Consumer Price Index increased by an average rate of 4,38 per cent from February 2019 to March 2019. Part of the report reads:

> The month-on-month food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation rate stood at 5,10 per cent in March 2019, gaining 1,54 percentage points on the February 2019 rate of 3,56 per cent.

The rise in inflation, even considering the conservative figures released by ZimStat, has been attributed to the difference in the exchange rate between the US$ and the RTGS$. Most businesses “rate” the price of goods and services due to uncertainty.
