President Emmerson Mnangagwa who was holding a political rally there was not injured in the explosion. In separate statements, the embassies of the United States and the United Kingdom condemned the violence. The US Embassy said: > The US Embassy in Harare condemns the attack at the ZANU-PF rally in Bulawayo this afternoon. Political violence in any form is unacceptable and contrary to the positive progress required to move Zimbabwe forward as it seeks to take its place on the global stage.
