*Reactions To News That Morgan Tsvangirai Was Denied National Hero Status* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?lp On Thursday President Emmerson Mnangagwa said that former Prime Minister and former leader of the opposition MDC-T, Morgan Tsvangirai, will receive a state-assisted funeral. He also said that Tsvangirai was not going to be declared a national hero. The news produced mixed reactions among the people of Zimbabwe. Here is how some of the people felt about it. > “He is not being buried at the Heroes’ Acre. But they can’t take away his status as a hero. You don’t give a man the status of a hero. All you can do is recognise it. It is his” – Joshua Nkomo at Lookout Masuku funeral 12 April 1986 > — Chayo (@ras_malone) February 15, 2018 ---------- itel A70 256GB $99USD WhatsApp: https://wa.me/+263715068543 Calls: 0772464000 ---------- > MORGAN TSVANGIRAI can not be compared to Hunzvi, Border Gezi, Manyika and many other criminals at that bewitched Heroes Acre, so comrade ED and your ZANU PF cabal please keep your 'Heroes Acre" and we keep our Morgan. You can be buried anywhere. Tsvangirai deserves a state funeral with full military honors (21 gun salute) ku Buhera. > — Tapiwa Munjoma (@TapiwaMunjoma) February 16, 2018 > At Kumbirai Kangai's funeral at the National Heroes' Acre in 2013, President Mugabe publicly responded to MDC questioning the process of deciding who get to be a national hero. Therefore, he would never have been given a burial at the Heroes Acre. Ndabaningi Sithole and others were reviled even in death and denied the honor. > — Dumisani Ndlela (@dndlela) February 15, 2018 > Being declared a national hero isn’t only about being buried at the heroes acre. Doesn’t matter which party a person belonged to, if they fought for the country & are declared a hero; Heroes Acre is befitting. > — Proudly African (@Madawu17) February 16, 2018 _If you found this article useful_ *Please support Pindula by forwarding to friends and groups*
