Gokomere High School headmaster Mr Stanley Mutsambiwa allegedly diverted examination fees paid by academically challenged pupils to brighter ones in a bid to fix the school’s pass rate. This resulted in some students writing subjects they did not pay for at the expense of their peers.

Mtsambiwa is facing disciplinary action from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education  over the issue. Over 30 children were prejudiced by his actions. The pupils only realised the anomaly when their statements of entry showed they had registered for some subjects yet they had paid for them. He is also accused of registering full time students as external students to keep the official pass rate at his school high. Mtambiwa is on suspension pending the outcome of his hearing.

The issue came to light after a parent, Mr Munyaradzi Tichaona alerted the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education that even though his daughter had paid for 10 subjects she had only registered for 9.
