Warriors Coach Callisto Pasuwa and ZIFA are at an impasse over the coach’s position. Pasuwa does not want to resign from his job because that will mean he will be walking away from 12 months’ salary. Pasuwa’s contract still has another 12 months to run. At $7 000 per month, that means if he walks away he will be walking away from $84 000. Understandably, the coach does not want to resign, and would rather be fired.

However, if ZIFA fires him then it would have to pay for the remainder of his contract and give him $84 000. Zifa already owes Pasuwa 7 months salary, which translates to $49 000. Therefore if ZIFA fires Pasuwa, it will have to give him $133 000 compensation. As a result, ZIFA is insisting that Pasuwa should tender his resignation instead so that he forfeits the $84 000 for the remainder of the contract.

Pasuwa’s manager Gibson Mahachi spoke to Newsday saying:

And he has submitted his report to the HPC, and Zifa simply has to decide the way forward based on the recommendations of the HPC.
