Victoria Falls Man (26) Accused Of Raping Niece (6)
A 26-year-old man from Victoria Falls was arrested recently on allegations of raping an Early Childhood Development (ECD) pupil, who is his niece.
The man appeared before Victoria Falls resident magistrate Godswill Mavenge, on Tuesday last week accused of raping the six-year-old minor.
He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to 14 December.
Prosecutor Portia Moyo told the court that the accused raped the girl this month after the minor was left his custody by its mother who had gone to church. Said Moyo:
The accused took advantage of the absence of the complainant’s parents and made her lie on a sofa, undressed her and had sexual intercourse.

The matter came to light when the juvenile told her teacher at school about the abuse on 8 November.
It is further alleged that the minor revealed that after raping her, her uncle promised to buy her some chocolates to buy her silence.
