UK-based Zimbabwean Academic, Alex Magaisa, Dies

Zimbabwean-born University of Kent law lecturer Alex Tawanda Magaisa has died.

Magaisa, a former adviser to the late former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai died on Sunday in the United Kingdom where he was based.

According to journalist Hopewell Chin’ono, Magaisa suffered a cardiac arrest this morning at Margate Hospital at 10 am.

The director of a local think-tank SAPES Trust, Ibbo Mandaza, said Magaisa’s demise is a great loss to Zimbabwe’s intellectual community. He tweeted:

Just received the sad news that Alex Magaisa is no more; a great loss to Zimbabwe’s intellectual community, to the struggle for a better and democratic Zimbabwe.

There once was a zimbabwean intellectual Caesar and his name was Alex Magaisa. And he opened our minds in order to understand what was happening in the Capitol. He simplified legal jargon into kindergarten language so that everyone would understand. MHDSRIP.
