Russia Responds To Biden's Warning Against Use Of Weapons Of Mass Destruction In Ukraine

Russia Responds To Biden's Warning Against Use Of Weapons Of Mass Destruction In Ukraine

Russia has reiterated that its nuclear doctrine is self-explanatory, with top Russian officials repeatedly stating that the conflict in Ukraine does not meet any of its criteria.

The statement followed US President Joe Biden’s threat of a harsh, “consequential” response should Russia use weapons of mass destruction.

Speaking to RIA Novosti on Saturday when asked about the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons in Ukraine, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said:

Read the doctrine, everything is written there.

According to Russia’s nuclear posture, Moscow reserves the right to use atomic weapons only:

a). “in response to the use of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction against Russia or

b). its allies,” as well as “in response to a conventional attack that threatens the very existence” of Russia as a sovereign state.

The latest update to the doctrine, made in 2020, clarified two more scenarios for the possible use of nuclear arms:

i). receiving “credible information about the launch of ballistic missiles” targeting the territory of Russia or its allies, or

ii). an attack “on critical infrastructure that controls nuclear weapons,” potentially rendering the deterrent inoperable.

In mid-August, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu also dismissed as “absurd” claims that Moscow might use nukes in Ukraine, saying there are no targets there that would warrant doing so.

In an interview with CBS News, a part of which was released on Friday, US President Joe Biden warned Moscow against the use of weapons of mass destruction. Biden said:

Don’t, don’t, don’t. You will change the face of war unlike anything since World War II.

However, the US president declined to specify what the US response would be, only saying it would be “consequential.”

When Russia invaded Ukraine in February, Putin ordered Russia’s nuclear forces on high alert for the first time since the fall of the former Soviet Union, prompting some to conclude that Kremlin was prepared to use nuclear weapons in the neighbouring country.

As we speak the US is fully prepared for any war. It's us the weaklings who will suffer dire consequences in the advent of a nuclear or atomic war. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are historical empirical evidence of how such a blitzkrieg is disastrous. We may watch from the terraces cheering up either Putin or Biden but I can assure that this tactically an El Classico.

It only takes 10 minutes to destroy the entire
Europe with 2 ballistic missiles loaded with 10 warheads in each missile and takes 30 minutes to destroy the entire America so the entire world could get liquidated with an hour.

The area detonated by Nuclear Warheads is not as large as people think, but the spread of radioactive air is what kills most people in distant areas .A hydrogen bomb is the one that liquifies the earth in an hour ,but it’s too expensive and non radioactive

Putin himself can not be trustedd completely because he went into the present Russia/Ukraine war insisting that he was merely carrying out military exercises in his country.

Let us all believe that this time around he means what he is saying that the war in Ukraine is unsuitable for the application of nuclear or chemical weapons.

To stop this unholy war, Russia should withdraw it's soldiers from Ukraine territories. Or he must engage in dialogue.

Yours sincerely

Let's look back at history. Every century Russia ended up fighting the most fierce battles ever. Napoleon tried to conquer the world and got liquidated in the east...Hitler tried to conquer the world but got liquidated in the east and Japan tried twice to invade Russia and failed..first with the help of Britain and second with the help of German.

Russia raazumbu rapinda nyoka.

Putin, like Hitler started a war to boost his ego back home using phoney excuses. He thought Ukraine would be a walk over and in the process he would dethrone a popular and dynamic democrat whose youthful economic and political processes were the envy of Russian youths.

He hadn't factored in NATO and World support for Ukraine, and overestimated support from his "allies".

When he put his nuclear forces on high alert in February, he misjudged American, NATO and World response. He thought that would frighten the rest of the world into isolating Ukraine. Now he is using the same threat because he has failed to subdue Ukraine and Zelinsky is getting cockier as each day passes. All the initial successes have been eroded. The tanks he was banking on were roundly turned into mobile coffins vis guided missiles. Bridges have been torn down to big down any mechanised and infantry advances.

The use of guided missiles from deep inside Ukraine have had a demoralising effect on Russian forces because they cannot pinpoint the missile batteries and neutralise them. Therein lies quandary Putin finds himself in.

Once in a while Ukrainian missiles have struck into Russian territory. The increased use of mercenaries indicates the displeasure of Russian Generals to use more Russian troops, depleting the Russian bear in the event of escalating tensions that may draw in NATO.

Furthermore, the unprecedented effect has been the strengthening of NATO. Finland Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria which have been neutral all along have now made applications to join NATO. A definite diplomatic loss for Russia.

The 7 months of friction in Ukraine has served the west in more ways than one. NATO and western nations by donating arms to Ukraine have been given an opportunity to test in a war situation their armaments. Secondly whereas increased arms expenditure would have been frowned upon by voters, The West is now expending more on re-arming than would have been this case without the Ukrainian war. Meanwhile Russia's rearmaments have taken a knock because of sanctions. The economy is not performing as it should and prioritising and financing arms manufacturing isn't gaining currency.

The longer the Ukraine conflict gets, the weaker Putin's position becomes. Will Putin het into a position weakness that he will risk a nuclear holocaust? Putin is an unbalanced megalomaniac. Anything is possible.

Ian 4 months ago

There is a reason why Russia's army is not number one in the world and Putin is very much aware of that. He also knows he can never go nuclear coz the response would completely mark his end. What Russia can do NATO can do even better. Putin's game is to get people to think he is more dangerous or better than he actually is and the west is beginning to realize that that's why they are upping the ante with regards to arming Ukraine. In the face of embarrassment Putin 'redeems' himself by targeting civilian infrastructure. Conventionally he is not making any inroads anymore so he resorts to barbaric behavior firing into civilian areas. China can never openly endorse Putin's endeavors in Ukraine coz their economy will not last even one week if their exports are targeted with severe sanctions. Russia is not completely alone but nobody dares to provoke the West by siding with Putin completely
