Russia Admits ‘Significant Losses Of Troops’ In Ukraine, Denies Bucha Atrocities

Russia has admitted that it has suffered “significant losses” in Ukraine amounting to a “huge tragedy” for the country.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with UK broadcaster Sky News on Thursday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, said:

Yes, we have significant losses of troops and it is a huge tragedy for us.

Russia invaded its neighbour on 24 February in what President Vladimir Putin described as a special military operation.

The war has caused the world’s fastest refugee crisis – with more than 4.3 million people fleeing to neighbouring countries.

The United Nations says more than 1 500 civilians have been killed so far but there are fears that the number could be much higher.

On 25 March, Russia’s defence minister said that 1 351 of its soldiers have been killed in combat, while 3 825 were wounded.

On the other hand, Ukraine insists that its military has killed 19 000 Russian soldiers.

Military experts say the figures by both parties cannot be trusted as Kyiv would likely inflate them to boost the morale of its troops, while Russia is probably understating them.

Russia recently withdrew its troops from certain areas in Ukraine, including Kyiv’s northern region.

Peskov said the troop withdrawal was an “act of goodwill” to “lift tensions” during negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

But Western countries do not accept Russia’s explanation. They believe Moscow withdrew its forces due to the unexpected resistance shown by Ukrainian forces.

Peskov also denied accusations that Russian soldiers committed atrocities in Bucha, a town near Kyiv, saying the images showing dead bodies were staged by Ukrainians.

War tactics are being played by both Ukraine and Russia. Ukraine is inflating numbers of Russian soldiers who have died while Russia is downplaying the number of their soldiers who have perished in the war. It is open truth that Russia is bombing schools, living quarters, railway stations and hospitals although it is hiding behind it's little finger saying it is Ukraie which is self inflickiting damage to tarnish Russia's image. I foresee Putin being dragged to Haig where he will be tried either in person or in absentia.. This may be in the long run and not in the near forseeable future.

I recall saying something like that on 23 February. Can't wait for the day Putin is up for War Crimes at the ICC in The Hague (Den Hague as the Dutch call it).

@Jah, as usual you are being economic with the truth. Ramaphosa is NOT murdering people. Rogue elements such as Nhlanhla 'Lux' are doing that. Cyril is on record as saying Lux is wrong.

"Eye for an eye" makes the world go blind Jah. Two wrongs don't make a right.

The solution lies in us Zimbabweans to get our economy right, so that we don't end up with millions of our economic refugees in South Africa and elsewhere in the world. The rot starts with our own misgovernance here at home.

Any news is distorted unless you go watch it yourself. a lot was said but to no avail. its time to make money writing fake news on these two parties.

Now that is telling. So Russia has finally admitted to heavy losses in Ukraine! The withdrawal from among others Kiev environs cannot be seen as a humanitarian gesture. It is an admission of resistance. If humanitarian gestures were to be made, they should have been made at the bargaining table and not in the field.

It's about time Ukraine took the fight to Russia
