Former Mutare mayor, Blessing Tandi was reportedly barred from attending a CCC provincial assembly meeting Friday last week after he was labelled a traitor.
The meeting was held at the party’s provincial headquarters and presided over by CCC president Nelson Chamisa.
NewZimbabwe.com reported sources who attended the meeting as saying Tandi was blocked from getting into the venue of the meeting by security working on instructions from the party’s provincial leadership. Said a source:
Despite being recalled by Mwonzora for secretly working with Chamisa, Tandi was barred by security at the gate.
They told him he was not allowed to attend Chamisa’s meeting with the provincial leadership.
Trinity Manjengwa was one of the leading CCC’s securities who chased away Tandi, who could be heard begging to be allowed entry.
CCC Manicaland Chairperson, Prosper Mutseyami and senator Keresencia Chabuka were reportedly behind the move to block Tandi from the meeting.
Meanwhile, CCC Manicaland spokesperson David Panganayi expressed ignorance over the matter.
He said only the people who were invited to the meeting were those who hold positions in the party. Said Panganayi:
I am not aware of his being barred from the provincial assembly. What interim position does he currently hold?
It is unfortunate that he was barred from a meeting he was not invited to.
Tandi declined to comment on the matter after Newzimbabwe.com reached him for a comment.
Tandi was elected a councillor on an MDC Alliance ticket led by Chamisa but was recalled by the MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora.
