RBZ Reserve Money Update: 8 April 2022

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has reported on the reserve money supply as of the 8th of April 2022. The central bank said in a statement:

1. Reserve money declined by ZW$117.01 million to ZW$28.29 billion during the week ending 8th April 2022, compared to the previous week’s position of ZW$28.41 billion.

2. The decrease in reserve money largely reflected a decline of ZW$1.11 billion in required reserves. Partially offsetting the decline were increases of ZW$956.54 million and ZW$32.50 million in the currency issued and banks’ liquidity at the Central Bank (RTGS balances), respectively.
