Motorist Robbed Of A Toyota Hiace & US$180 By 'Passengers'

Another motorist was attacked and robbed of his vehicle and cash by men he had offered a lift from Harare on Saturday.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the motorist, who has not been named, was travelling to Marondera.

He offered a lift to Tafadzwa Goremusandu (36) and Olatious Mayemba (44) at Simon Muzenda bus terminus in Harare.

Along the way, the two suspects attacked the complainant and took control of the vehicle and diverted the route towards Ten Miles where they dumped the complainant.

However, the suspected hijackers were seized by members of the public after the vehicle broke down a short distance from where they had dumped their victim. Police said in a statement:

Police in Marondera arrested Tafadzwa Goremusandu (36) and Olatious Mayemba (44) for a robbery case where they robbed a complainant of US$180 cash and a Toyota Hiace baby Quantum vehicle after they were offered a lift to Marondera, at Simon Muzenda bus termini, Harare.

Dont just offer lifts to strangers especially at night. During the day you may offer lifts for short distances where there is always pedestrian traffic along the route. We know u ll be trying to get some extra cents for fuel and lunch. Inotambika but safety first
