Mnangagwa Will Not Seek To Block Chamisa By Raising Presidential Age: Energy Mutodi
The Deputy Minister in the Ministry Of Information and Broadcasting Services, Energy Mutodi has distanced his principal President Emmerson Mnangagwa from calls to raise the minimum presidential age limit from the current 40 to 52 years.
War Veterans senior leader, Victor Matemadanda set the cat among the pigeons last week when he suggested that Parliament should make a Constitutional amendment to that effect.
However, Mutodi has absolved Mnangagwa of harbouring such plans. Writing on microblogging site Twitter, Mutodi said
Let me make it clear that His Excellency President ED Mnangagwa will not seek to outdo his rival in the last election Nelson Chamisa by increasing the age limit for Presidential candidates. Instead, his policies and actions will do the bidding for his next term.
