Man Cycles From Johannesburg To Bulawayo In Two Days

A South Africa-based Zimbabwean professional cyclist, Meli Ndlovu, who left Johannesburg on Saturday by bicycle to raise awareness on COVID-19, arrived in Bulawayo on Monday afternoon.

Ndlovu told journalists and people who had gathered to welcome him in Bulawayo that he faced various challenges along the journey. He said:

It was not an easy journey as I had to stand through ongoing traffic, especially on the Zimbabwean side. The streets are not clear and the road is too small, full of potholes. I appeal to the government to fix the roads.

Along the journey, I could rest for two hours and continue with my journey. I only slept yesterday in Gwanda because I had problems with my bicycle.

I had to stay and fix my bicycle. At the border, they did not want me to pass through and a lot of people were afraid to take pictures. I don’t know why.

He implored Zimbabweans to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
