Kids Die After Being Forgotten In Car Boot: Creche Owner Granted Bail

A Chiredzi creche owner Zhuwakina Javangwe who was arrested after four kids died in the boot of her car has been granted an $8 000 bail by the High Court in Masvingo.

Javangwe is facing murder, attempted murder and violation of the Education Act charges.

She was arrested on Tuesday last week after she forgot four kids in the boot of her Honda CRV for four hours resulting in the death of two of them.

She is also accused by the State of operating a crèche without a licence.

The deceased children attended her Javas Day Care Creche.

The State led by Emmanuel Matose did not oppose bail and said Javangwe was not a flight risk.

The toddlers who died are Celine Shiri and Innocentia Lynet Musungati.

Javangwe was represented by Yvonne Motsi of B Chipadze Law Chambers.

Justice Garainesu Mawadze ordered Javangwe to deposit $8 000 with the clerk of court at Chiredzi, continue residing at 15 Bauhina in Rhodhene, Masvingo, not to interfere with witnesses and to report at Masvingo Central every Friday.
