Kenyan Opposition Leader Raila Odinga's Helicopter Pelted With Stones

Police in Kenya have arrested seventeen suspects over the stoning of opposition leader and presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s chopper on Friday.

The ODM leader and Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate’s chopper was pelted with stones at Kabenes after the burial of Mzee Kibor in Uasin Gishu.

Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Stephen Kihara said the suspects implicated key political leaders in the region in planning the incident.

He said the politicians will be arrested to serve as a lesson to others. Said, Kihara:

We will not allow that to happen in our country and anyone doing that will not be tolerated.

Kihara added that investigations were underway to ensure that anyone involved is arrested and charged.

Meanwhile, the National Police Service in a statement said those arrested were found to be in possession of money in Sh50 denominations and are assisting the police with investigations.

Earlier, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i condemned the attack and directed the National Police Service to investigate the incident and arrest the youths involved. Said Matiang’i:

I call upon the National Police Service to investigate the matter and ensure that all the culprits and their masterminds are made to swiftly and decisively face the consequences of their criminal actions.

The regrettable incident is a sad and atavistic reminder of the ugly face of violent political intolerance that our beloved motherland has worked hard to consign to the annals of painful history in the last 14 years.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta recently officially endorsed Odinga for the presidency.

Kenya will hold general elections on 9 August 2022. Voters will elect the President, members of the National Assembly and Senate, county governors and members of the 47 county assemblies.

They don't care because the opposition is just a nuisance. There have no policies and hence no voice..need I paint the picture of the state of our opposition parties when decades of history is out there... **** opposition parties without nothing to offer except words, it is high time we have political parties with a military wing or at least have the economic power to hire Russia mercenary group Wagner, the rigging company Nikuv, spy software so that they can gather information against the ruling party...Without such a scenario all these politricking is just in vain...grow up and take the fight to "Goliath" kwete kungoswera crying foul...

Here in Zimbabwe if anything happens to the opposition they don't care all they care is for the one who is bribing them by giving them bread,,Zimbabweans no one is coming we are the only people who can transform our country, the majority vote for Zanu for the benefit of the minority(small group) no wonder even a grade one has a vision to flee Zimbabwe and go to America,, let's be the change that we want and we do so by raising our voices through voting you know the future that you want your vote can change or destroy your whole generation,,, don't be among those who are voting for some people to continue exploiting others,
