Job Description

The Group wishes to invite applications from suitably qualified & experienced individuals to fill in the Sonographer role that has arisen in our organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Checks that the Cimas Radiology Unit is registered with the Health Professions Authority and the City Council.
  • Identifies all Radiology operation requirements to ensure seamless operations, including but not restricted to, CAPEX and OPEX, human resources, equipment, projected numbers of patients and Cimas members.
  • Develops the annual operating plan for the Radiology Unit and submits the plan to the Group Medical Advisor and Diagnostics Specialist.
  • Develops the annual budget and submits to the Group Medical Advisor and Diagnostics Specialist for presentation to the General Manager – Healthcare Services.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and adherence to the prescribed standard operating procedures.
  • Performs ultrasound scans and X-ray examinations for diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions.
  • Develops ultrasound scan reports to facilitate for patient diagnosis.
  • Maintains daily logs of patients seen and oversees billing procedures.
  • Monitors goods receipts, packing and storage of stocks in line with Cimas policies, procedures and manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Performs random checks and reconciles Radiology stocks.
  • Investigates and reports on stock variances.
  • Participates in stock takes in conjunction with Finance as per Cimas calendar.
  • Uses and maintains various equipment ensuring that precautionary instructions are adhered to.
  • Monitors maintenance of machine logbook ensuring that utilisation and requests are correlating with the documented equipment.
  • Responsible for all radiation safety and checking equipment for any malfunctions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Holder of a Degree in Radiography.
  • Masters in Medical Ultrasound or Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound.
  • Registered with the Allied Health Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe.
  • Valid Open Practicing Certificate (OPC).
