Job Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the above position which has arisen at the Women’s University in Africa, Harare campus. The Records Officer reports to Registrar.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing support to ensure that accountability, transparency and regulatory requirements of managing the University records are met.
- Accessing, maintaining and developing computerised and manual information systems that may be required in order to provide information, access to service, advice and support for stakeholders.
- Managing all aspects of records transfer to the document storage facility, records to archives and records disposal.
- Developing record distribution and storage policies and procedures.
- Auditing the information that is created and stored within the University.
- Overseeing the transition from paper to electronic records management systems.
- Maintaining various records and preparing periodic reports.
- Ensure proper provision of storage and security for historical archival records.
- Retrieving and destroying records in accordance with applicable University regulations and national laws and policies.
- Compiling sectional budget and other statistical data and
- Performing any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
- First Degree in Records and Archives Management/Archaeology, Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies/Records Management or equivalent; plus
- At least two (2) years exposure of records management in a University or similar work environment.
- Good understanding of Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts.
- Knowledge of National Archives of Zimbabwe policies and procedures.
- Advanced IT skills, experience of using MS Office applications and ability to use IT to achieve work objectives.
