Job Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the above position which has arisen at the Women’s University in Africa, Harare campus. The Deputy Bursar reports to the Bursar.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparation of financial statements in accordance with IAS and IFRS.
- Preparation of periodic management accounts.
- Coordination of external audit.
- Budgeting and budgetary control.
- Authorisation of expenditure and approval of payments.
- General ledger reconciliations.
- Developing policies and procedures to improve efficiency.
- Exercise professional superintendence over accounting staff in the Finance Department; and
- Performing any other relevant duties assigned by the Bursar.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- Master of Commerce Degree in Accounting.
- Have a professional qualification in accounting such as CIS, ACCA, CIMA.
- Be an accountant in good standing, registered as a Public Accountant with the Public Accountants and Auditors Board (PAAB).
- Be an accomplished accountant with at least 5 years of working experience at the level of Assistant/Senior Assistant Bursar.
- Have knowledge of accounting procedures and practices as guided by the International Accounting Standards (IAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Be computer literate, with a heavy flair in MS Excel and
- Have proven experience in at least one accounting package.
