Job Summary
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Zimbabwean citizens to fill the below mentioned vacant positions
The position exists to ensure orderly development of Telecommunication Networks in Zimbabwe through compliance, enforcement, network audits and inspections that will ensure the correct performance of communication networks within Zimbabwe.
The position reports to the Engineer Networks and Standards.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Contribute to identifying inputs into the divisional budget to ensure proper resources are budgeted for to avoid any disruption of engineering activities at any given period.
- Draft divisional budget for approval by the Networks and Standards Manager to assist the division to secure required resources for a smooth flow of work activities.
- Liaise with dealers and consumers on matters regarding type approval of telecommunications equipment to ensure they have adequate information on regulatory requirements.
- Provide information and advice to applicants for telecommunication licences to assist them to compile and complete documents required by the regulator.
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with telecommunication regulations and licence provisions.
- Evaluate applications by prospective telecommunication licensees and equipment dealers for possible licensing.
- Develop and execute a Network Audit (Inspection) plan that encompasses the licensee's networks for review by Networks and Standards Engineer.
- Assist in preparation of annual inspection schedules, verifying areas, licensees, and periods for inspection to ensure all tasks are executed accordingly and timeously.
- Check conformity to regulations and standards with other boards e.g, local authorities on ducts, Civil Aviation Authority on masts.
Qualifications And Experience
- A minimum of Higher National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic or Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 2 years working experience in Telecommunications Networks.
- A good understanding of Fixed, Mobile, Data and Internet technologies and Standards.
- A good understanding of Telecommunications Standardization and Regulation.
- A Clean Class Four Driver's Licence a must.
- Membership to a professional En ineering Body a requirement.
- Self-motivated and self-starter with an excellent attitude.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion
- Good interpersonal skills and communication skills.
- Excellent skills in report writing.
- High level conceptual and analytic skills.
- Sound IT literacy.
