Summary
The SIRDC, a Research & Development (R & D) and Technology Transfer organization, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the above senior position:
Biologist Duties and Responsibilities
- Planning and executing research programmes in biotechnology.
- Carrying out research in biotechnology with the aim of identifying and assisting clients who require the use of molecular biology technology.
- Providing services to the farming community, especially the small holder, in the application of biotechnology.
- Carrying out research with the aim of improving crops namely for high yields, drought tolerance and disease resistance.
- Conducting field trials of germplasm for various crops.
- Conducting research that leads to the registration and commercialization of new crop varieties.
- Preparing technical reports and making presentations.
- Carrying out any other duties that Management may assign from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum qualification is a Master's degree in Biochemistry or Biotechnology or Biological Sciences with a PhD degree being an added advantage.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years working experience and solid knowledge of molecular biology and plant virology
