Founded by Strive and Tsitsi Masiyiwa in 1996, the Foundation was first launched in Zimbabwe and has since spread its footprint to Lesotho, Burundi, Rwanda, Swaziland, South Africa, and Kenya. Higherlife Foundation implements projects in Education; Health; Rural Transformation and Sustainable Livelihoods; and Disaster Relief and Preparedness impacting millions of lives in the communities it serves.
Primary Purpose of the Job:
The successful incumbent will be responsible for working in closely with the Delta Philanthropies teams and accurately account for project costs, thoroughly analyse variances to budget and clearly communicate these results to management.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare a spending tracking system to make sure all expenses are within budget before signing any requisition
- Raise grant related memos, reviewing grant specific payments and ensuring that all expenses incurred are reported
- Maintaining financial, accounting and grant support services
- Prepare financial statements, maintaining cash controls, providing financial reporting and analysis in support of the grant agreement.
- Working closely with the Programs, Financial Accountant and the Finance Manager, the Grant Accountant will focus heavily on budgeting, compliance, reporting and variance analysis functions.
- Perform grant-related post-award functions, including budget and expense analysis, periodic invoicing, financial reporting, reconciliations, re-budgeting and grant closeout functions required by Grants and Contracts
- Work with Program Team Leader, Financial Accountant and appropriate staff in the development of forecasts, budgets and budget revisions for programs.
- Communicate monthly financial results with appropriate program staff, informing them of financial position of the project.
- Ensure compliance of grants with Delta Philanthropies policies/procedures and donor rules/regulations.
- Compile donor reports and produce timely and accurate financial reports that meet the various donor-reporting specifications.
- Advise the key internal stakeholders of key grant contractual clauses and ensure that all transactions and business processes do not violate those clauses.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports on grants for internal management purposes.Produce budget and expense analysis report.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis in response to requests or to provide support to various programs.
- Identify and recommend cost savings initiatives for program activities and the organization
- Assist in standardization of finance processes and procedures in line grant application, grant rewarding and grant reporting
Qualifications and Competencies
- A professional qualification in Accountancy (CA/CIMA/CIS/ACCA/CPA) or working towards an added advantage
- 2 to 4 years’ experience in a similar or related environment
- Must be able to work well under minimum supervision.
- Clean Class 4 Drivers license an added advantage
