Summary of Job Description
Developing and implementing strategies and safeguards to protect, promote and manage the primary health care and safety of Members and Staff of Parliament, prevent and address health and safety concerns that interfere with the work of Parliament as well as prevent illness and injury throughout the sitting calendar years.
Duties
Developing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal laws
1.2 Establishing health procedures that guide health practice following public health recommendations
1.3 Revising primary health care policies and procedures to align with prevailing and other governing statutes.
1.4 Recommending and implementing health service procedures for medical emergencies, referrals, communicable diseases and other health concerns
1.5 Providing consultation regarding district management plans that involve health and safety of students and staff members
1.6 Direct dispensing of medication to Members and Staff of Parliament
1.7 Advising Human Resources regarding Workers Compensation and staff injury programs for the Parliament of Zimbabwe
1.8 Coordinating Occupational Health Safety and Wellness Programs for Parliament of Zimbabwe
1.9 Supervising health services staff and annual budget for district and non-public schools
1.10 Performing any other duties as assigned or requested including attending professional development/meetings, in-services and workshops.
Minimum Educational Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Medicine / Nursing Science
- Five (5) years traceable leadership experience in a public healthcare setting,
- Licensed as a Registered Medical Practitioner / Nurse
- Valid Class 4 Driver’s license Experience
- Ability to work well with others and possess exceptional interpersonal skills
- Ability to constantly make decisions and act within statutory provisions, procedures and guidelines
- Knowledge of legal mandates regarding provision of health services Ability to work in a diverse political environment
- Knowledge of medical support systems within the community
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
