Applications are invited to fill in the following vacant position: Data Centre Specialist

Reporting to the Group Chief Digital Officer. the essential duties and responsibilities of this role will include:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data centre efficiency
  • Assess/certify the power. cooling. space, and weight sizing requirements for new activities
  • Ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met. identifying problems, and making repairs quickly (business continuity)
  • Actively identifying and understanding emerging marketing platforms, tools and trends and offer recommendations
  • Manage data centre performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures (disaster recovery) as well as respond to dorms in accordance with company procedures
  • Work with support service vendors to resolve conflicts and issues
  • Monitor activities procedure, and utilization within the data centre to maintain proper IT policies and to comply with the regulation
  • Analyse the technology environment. enterprise specifics and documentation of requirements
  • Setting the collaboration framework. creating a solution prototype participating in technology selection. controlling solution development, and supporting project management
  • Perform installation and configuration, patch updates. OS upgrades. run cable infrastructure and document network

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Degree in computer science or engineering-related field
  • A certification in data centre management a must (CompTIA ServerPlus, Data Centre Design Consultant. Certified Data Centre Management Professional or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of experience as a data centre specialist. preferably in an insurance or financial services set up
  • In-depth knowledge of data centre environments. servers. and network equipment
  • Extensive experience in installing. monitoring. and maintaining data centre equipment
  • Exceptional ability to work as part of a team. provide IT support. and resolve errors
  • Ability to keep up with advancements in data centre infrastructure and technologies
  • Proficiency in documenting network processes
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Willingness to respond to network and server errors after hours
