The cooks will be responsible for ensuring good hygienic standards, preparing meals and follow established recipes.


  • Budgets for the canteen
  • Decides on appropriate menus
  • Checks for freshness of food and ingredients.
  • Prepares and serves beverages and refreshments
  • Prepares lunch or supper for employees
  • Determines food presentation and serving methods
  • Verifies that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity.
  • Serves food to staff members
  • Sweeps inside and outside the canteen area
  • Cleans the canteen to include the tables and chairs
  • Cleans the dishes, pots, utensils etc.
  • Exercises proper waste management
  • Monitors stock levels and reorders where necessary
  • Arranges and directs the appropriate storage of food and supplies.
  • Establishes controls to minimize food and supply waste and theft.
  • Maintains safety standards throughout all food preparation, storage and/or disposal processes
  • Ensures compliance with food regulations and policies.
  • Ensures standardization of cooking methods to develop consistency of quality standards.
  • Adheres to and ensures adherence to safety, health and environment regulations and standard procedures.
  • Performs ad – hoc/any other duties assigned by the Superior


  • 5 ‘O’ level subjects including English Language and Mathematics/Accounts.
  • Certificate in Professional Cookery an added advantage
