Job Description
The position exists to ensure adherence of design specifications through proper setting of works to be undertaken, control of design levels from road formation up to surfacing including all drainage systems and structures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Setting out all engineering works for road construction.
- Calculate elevations, relative positions of services within the construction servitude.
- Plan and conduct topographical surveys prior to resumption of works.
- Establish fixed points/benchmarks for use during and after construction.
- Train assistants and survey hands appropriate surveying methods and procedures.
- Adjusting and ensuring that proper care is taken in using and storing surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy.
- Liaising with client/ consultant on any issues pertaining to designs and specification.
- Preparing and maintaining sketches, maps and reports of descriptions for surveys conducted.
- Verify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey site.
- Ensure that accuracy is maintained at all times during surveys to avoid errors in road construction.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5 ‘O’ Levels including English Language and Maths.
- Higher National Diploma/ Degree in Survey and Geomatics.
- Three years relevant working experience.
- Someone who is able to work under no Supervision.
