Job Description

Applications are invited for the above senior non-academic position that has arisen in the University.

We are looking for highly diligent, confident candidates who hold extensive management experience in Higher Education communication and public relations field to fill the post of Communications and Public Relations Director. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the incumbent shall have the following key responsibility areas:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Managing corporate communications with internal and external stakeholders.
• Managing corporate image and identity issues to ensure a positive and sustainable reputation with all stakeholders.
• Developing communication and public relations policies and strategies for the institution.
• Organising, coordinating special events for the institution.
• Participating, representing the institution in publication activities, and serving as the spokesperson on designated public relations matters.
• Managing media relations and participation in public matters concerning the institution and ensuring that information released is consistent with Chinhoyi University of Technology strategy, mission and vision.
• OVerseeing and producing a broad array of digital and/or print promotional and communication materials for the institution.
• Advising management on corporate image matters, customer relations, media issues and client complaints.
• Advising Schools on effective use of existing mediums to enhance the awareness and support for their programs.
• Writing and editing news releases, feature articles, special articles, speeches, postings, scripts, reports and other communications, on university programs and success stories.
• Developing and maintaining the public relations program budget and supervising staff in the unit.
• Performing any other related duties as may be delegated by the Vice-Chancellor. 

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Media and Communication, Marketing or other related field and a relevant Master's degree.
• At least 2 years' experience working in communications and public relations field is a requirement.
• The successful candidate should possess refined written and verbal communication skills, and ability to manage stakeholder perceptions and understand communication timing and setting.
