Job Description

To coordinate and manage the sales and marketing activities within one's assigned sales territory in terms of set sales volume targets, set expenditure budgets and product lines. 

Job Level: CL

Reports to: Sales and Marketing Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sells the company's products in order to achieve the set volumes and value targets for all sugars and other products.
  • Negotiates for prime shelf space with retail and wholesale managers to ensure high product visibility.
  • Supervises on the ground the execution of marketing and promotional activities such as posters, price displays, in store to ensure effectiveness.
  • Gathers market intelligence with regards to competitors and recommends to management relevant responses.
  • Provides business consultancy services to customers on trade issues which would help them manage their businesses further and become bigger and better customers.
  • Proposes a fair and equitable distribution of products across the market and channels of the assigned territory.
  • Monitors in store product availability for key accounts, rate of sell and recommends re-order levels.
  • Develops and maintains a market coverage plan that is regular and consistent.
  • Identifies prospects, visits their premises as part of the KYC process and develops them into profitable customers.
  • Participates in regional events such as the agricultural shows, trade fairs, conventions and seminars.
  • Provides accurate sales forecasts for the sales region
  • Visit customers on set intervals to establish a sound working relationship.
  • Build good relations with all stakeholders in the region, acting and relating in ways that project a good image of THZ.
  • Monitors prices on the market and researches from buyers on cost prices of competing brands.
  • Prepares and maintains customer records as well as weekly and monthly sales reports. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A first degree in Marketing or related field.
  • Clean Class 4 Drivers licence
  • At least 3 years sales experience is a requirement.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • Good knowledge of Safety, Health and Environment
  • ICT proficiency
