Duties and Responsibilities
- Daily supervision of the Treasury / Cash Office
- Reviewing all payment requisitions for accuracy and completeness
- Checking payments for accuracy before authorisation
- Posting Receipts and Payments into the Accounting System timeously
- Reviewing bank and other reconciliations and ensuring they are done timeously and on a monthly basis
- Ensuring accuracy of all general ledger and accounts payable transactions
- Reviewing and Recommending Improvements to Treasury Office Internal Control Systems
- Sourcing and recommending ideal investments
- Liaison with bankers on issues related to the University’s Bank Accounts
- Preparation of Treasury Office Audit Schedules and attending to Auditors’ requests / queries
- Ensuring proper safekeeping of all accounting records
- Any other duties as assigned by the Bursar or Deputy Bursar
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Accounting from a reputable University
- Possession of a professional Accounting Qualification
- Masters’ Degree in Accounting would be an added advantage
- Extensive Practical knowledge of Pastel Evolution Accounting System
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position / role
- Excellent Communication, Interpersonal and Leadership Skills
- Attention to Detail
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
