England forward Jesse Lingard looks set to stay at Manchester United for the rest of the season.
Interim United boss Ralf Rangnick told Lingard, 29, he could leave if an acceptable offer was received.
However, it has become clear United are not willing to substantively alter their stance on deadline day.
They did not want to let Lingard join a top-four rival in West Ham and demanded a hefty clause in any deal with Newcastle should they avoid relegation.

England international Lingard spent a productive spell on loan at West Ham in the second half of the 2020-21 season, scoring nine goals in 16 appearances.
But he has started just two games in all competitions for the Red Devils since returning to Old Trafford.
