Illegal Forex Dealers Take Over Parking Space In Streets & Avenues

Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has bemoaned the influx of illegal money changers who conduct business on parking bays in the Central Business District (CBD).

Bulawayo Town Clerk Christopher Dube told the Chronicle that the illegal forex dealers have a lot of money and can afford parking on particular spots all day. He said:

It is really a serious problem in the city. We acknowledge that there are now more vehicles in the city than we had say 20 years ago.

However, we have a problem with people doing business from cars and parking all day at particular spots.

This is one of the reasons why we have flighted the advert for the parking system tenders so that city parking is better managed.

Dube added that some workers are now being forced to park very far from their workplaces as most forex dealers can take an entire block of a parking area in certain streets and avenues.

He asserted that the problem can be dealt with if the Council has arresting powers.
