Ibhetsu Likazulu Leader Arrested At Prayer Meeting

Ibhetshu Likazulu coordinator Mbuso Fuzwayo was one of the people arrested by police at a prayer meeting in Harare on Friday.

The prayer meeting was part of the “Zimbabwe We Want Campaign” launch which was supposed to be done on the same day but was blocked by the police on the grounds that it was a political gathering and not a religious event.

The participants then later gathered at the Zimbabwe Divine Destiny offices for a short prayer service.

Anti-riot police, however, descended on the gathering and arrested 34 people, including pastors.

Bulawayo-based Pastor Milson Ndlovu of Brethren In Christ Church who was among the participants confirmed the arrest of the Gukurahundi activist (Fuzwayo). Said Ndlovu:

The unfortunate part is that Mbuso Fuzwayo, the secretary-general of Ibhetshu LikaZulu and his colleagues who were coming to be with us for the prayer service plus pastors who came from Masvingo and all the other provinces were rounded up and have been locked in cells.

Ten of the arrested appeared in court while twenty-four have opted to pay fines for disorderly conduct.
