"I Did Not Lose" MDC A Candidate Speaks On Epworth Results

MDC Alliance candidate for the Epworth Constituency in the just-ended by-elections, Zivai Togarepi Mhetu, has spoken on the loss to a ZANU PF candidate.

The seat was won by ZANU PF candidate Makari Zalerah Hazvinei won the race by 10 246 votes. 

She was followed by Kureva Earthrage of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) who garnered 8283 votes. 

Mhetu was in third place with 745 while Hazvina Innocent who contested as an Independent candidate attained 441 votes.

Musiyadzayanikwa Richard of LEAD was last with just 92 votes.

There were 266 spoilt ballot papers.

Commenting on the loss, Mhetu said he did not lose adding:

It’s the people of Epworth who have lost a star committed to brighten their horizon. I need no silver lining.

Most of the seats that fell vacant as a result of deaths and recalls were won by the CCC.

Out of the 28 National Assembly seats that were vacant, CCC won 19 and the remaining 9 were won by the ruling ZANU PF.

MDC Alliance did not win any even in 121 local government seats that were up for grabs.
