Legendary musician Hosea Chipanga will contest the Dangamvura-Chikanga Constituency in the 26 March by-elections on a Patriotic Zimbabweans Party ticket.
Chipanga urged voters to abandon opposition legislators and councillors whom he accused of failing to deliver. Said Chipanga:
We are preparing for the by-elections following the holding of the nomination court.
There are a number of problems in our constituency that include poor road network and unavailability of clean water.
Our expectations were that the legislators could attend to laws and policies that promote growth and sustainability.
The local council was drafting budgets that were not supported by income-generating initiatives.
The council only focuses on rentals and rates to fund their operations instead of thinking outside the box.
We now have a challenge where people are fond of political parties and not their country.
That’s the major challenge we are facing at the moment.
Chipanga will square off against five other candidates namely Esau Mupfumi (ZANU PF), Taurai Mudzipurwa (MDC Alliance), Prosper Mutseyami (CCC) and Anesu Zaranyika (MA’AT Zimbabwe Party).
In 2017, Chipanga formed his own party, the Kingdom of God on Earth but abandoned his project in 2021 to join the Patriotic Zimbabweans Party.
