FULL TEXT: ZimPF Demands Reversal Of Recall Of Its Councillor By MDC Alliance
The opposition Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) led by Rtrd Brig Ambassador Agrippa Mutambara has written to Local Government minister, July Moyo seeking a reversal of its member Pasirayi Taurai.
The recall was initiated by the MDC Alliance, an amalgamation of seven (7) political parties, which claimed that Pasirayi had ceased to be a member of the MDC Alliance.
Pasirayi is among the 16 councillors that were recently recalled by MDC Alliance.
The development did not sit well with ZimPF which claimed that while Pasirayi was in the MDC Alliance, he remained a member of the ZimPF. The party’s Secretary-General, Marakia Bomani, said ZimPF reserved the right to recall members as per clause 2.0 of the alliance Agreement.
In a letter dated 18 and addressed to local government minister Moyo, ZimPF called for the reversal of the recalls. Reads the letter written by Bomani:

RE REVERSING THE DECISION TO RECALL PASIRAYI TAURAYI FROM ROVINCIAL COUNCIL-MASHONALAND EAST
Zimbabwe People First (ZIMPF) understands that your esteemed office is in possession of a letter from Movement for Democratic Change MDC T stating that Taurayi Pasirayi a Provincial Council member in Mashonaland East ceased to belong to MDC-T advising your office that by operation of the MDC T automatically terminating their membership of said Party.
This position is erred as the said member is not and was never an MDC-T member but a ZIMPF one led by Ambassador Agrippa Mutambara who was one of the Alliance Principals. In terms of Section 129(1)(k) and Section 278(1) an elected Provincial Councilor or National Assembly member Is only recalled at the instigation of their political party.
Pasirayi Taurayi was sponsored by ZimPF in the 2018 Harmonised elections and therefore his purported recall by MDC-T party is null and void and therefore reversed. He is still a loyal party cadre who has not been subjected to any disciplinary processes.
