FULL TEXT: Schools To Reopen On 7 February, Govt Relaxes National Lockdown

Full statement by the Acting Minister of Health and Child Care, Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development Amon Murwira on the COVID-19 Level 2 National Lockdown:

THE COVID-19 LEVEL 2 NATIONAL LOCKDOWN REVIEW MEASURES, 28th JANUARY, 2022

Over the past two weeks, the country has recorded a decline in new COVID-19 cases. The National COVID-19 epidemic curve is indicating that the 4th Wave is at its tail end and this Wave appears to be under control.

In this regard, the Acting President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Hon. Gen. (Retd) Dr CGDN Chiwenga, has reviewed the COVID-19 Level 2 National Lockdown Measures as follows:

1. The general school calendar starts on 7 February 2022 following one week of finalising all reopening preparations by
both school administrators and parents;

2. The business community to go back to working from their offices whilst continuing to observe COVID-19 prevention measures such as social distancing and also continuing to
encourage their employees and patrons to get vaccinated;

3. Curfew shall now begin at midnight (0000hrs) and end at 0530 hours the following day;

4. Restaurants and hotels offering catering services to operate from 0800 hours and close at 2200 hours and allow sit-ins only for fully vaccinated persons;

5. Bars and nightclubs shall open from 0800 hours to 2200 hours only for vaccinated persons;

6. All persons entering Zimbabwe must undergo a valid COVID- 19 PCR test not more than 48 hours from the time of their departure for Zimbabwe. Those who do not have a valid negative PCR test and a certificate to that effect shall be denied entry into Zimbabwe;

7. Quarantine for locals, returning residents and visitors is lifted for those fully vaccinated;

8. The wearing of face masks in public places, especially public transport and closed space gatherings remain mandatory and must be enforced;

9. Eligible members of the public are encouraged to get vaccinated;

10. The provincial COVID-19 task-force teams are urged to increase their efforts in mobilising eligible members of the public to get vaccinated;

11. Finally, the practice of WHO-recommended COVID-19 preventive public health and social measures that include: washing of hands; sanitising; social distancing; avoiding crowds and gatherings; to continue.

12. All of the above measures are subject to periodic review depending on the prevailing COVID-19 situation.

The nation awaits its father who is currently on leave, to come and authorise the 2nd phase of partial dollarisation,a certain amount of USD has already been proposed alongside the RTGS salary figure and now just awaits a green light from H.E Cde E.D,
2.I.C can not authorise such that is why this time he announced the new lockdown measures and school openning dates from the terraces
In conclusion i am saying that about 200USD + the current 75USD + the respective RTGS$ Salary is going to be given to our civil servants, & thus APEX might have hinted the servants & they agreed

MY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE SINCE THE ADVENT OF COVID19 PANDEMIC IS THAT STATISTICS OF DAILY NEW CASES BALLOONED FOLLOWING OPENING SCHOOLS.

HOWEVER, LET ME QUICKLY SAY, I AM IN FAVOUR OF THE OPENING OF SCHOOLS. WE CAN NOT GO ON SINE DIE WITH SCHOOLS CLOSED.

I HOPE AUTHORITIES HAVE MADE THOROUGH PREPARATIONS. THEY MUST HAVE MADE SURE THAT SCHOOLS HAVE ENOUGH MASKS AND SANITISERS.

NOW THAT TEACHERS HAVE AGREED TO GO BACK TO THE CLASSROOMS WITHOUT PRECONDITIONS MUST CONGRATULATED. THEY HAVE GONE BACK WITHOUT PRECONDITIONS BECAUSE THEY SEE A RAY OF HOPE IN THE TALKS BETWEEN APEX COUNCIL AND GOVERNMENT REPRESENTITIVES.

GOVERNMENT MUST NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE AND PROCRASTINATE WITH TALKS. THESE TALKS MUST BE CONCLUDED IN DOUBLE QUICK TIME TO PLEASE TEACHERS WHO HAVE SUFFERED FOR A LONG TIME.

I HOPE THAT THE OPENING OF SCHOOLS THIS TIME AROUND DOES NOT COINCIDE WITH THE BALLOONING OF CORONAVIRUS CASES.

Thanks for such a good movement of re-opening schools. However the teachers of of children are crying day and night but it seems as if their griviences are useless.pliz ma teachers arikuchema vanzweiwo

Manikiniki 5 months ago

The schools will open but the teaching and learning will not be normal at all because the genuine griviences of the teachers have not been met. How can this cruel gvt pay a teacher $22 000 rtgs and expect quality output from that employee. Schools are now just breeding grounds for inappropriate behaviour for children as they no longer have anyone to monitor them at schools because teachers no longer have the energy to run around baby sitting other people's children all for peanuts at the end of the month. By not paying teachers a living wage, the greatest losers are the children. Going to school with no one on the look out for them and indulge in all those improper activities beyond your imagination becoz teachers no longer care.

Ko ma retailers like supermarkets as well as other businesses asiri mabhawa nema restaurants ave kubvumirwa kuvhura kusvika nguvai? I'd have thought that supermarkets' opening hours would have been prioritized in that reportage than those of exclusive alcohol retailing outlets!
