Former ZIMSEC Director Granted State-assisted Funeral

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has granted a State-assisted funeral for the late former Director of the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) Jabulane Ndanga.

Ndanga died on Tuesday this week after a long illness.

A statement issued by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Misheck Sibanda on Thursday reads:

OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT AND CABINET CONDOLENCE MESSAGE FOLLOWING THE DEATH OF MR. HAPPY JABULANE NDANGA: FORMER DIRECTOR OF THE ZIMBABWE SCHOOLS EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL (ZIMSEC)

On behalf of His Excellency the President, the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet wishes to convey heartfelt condolences to Mr Happy Jabulane Ndanga’s family, relatives and friends following the death of Mr Ndanga, former Director of the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) on the 14th of December 2021 after a long illness.

Mr Ndanga served with distinction as Deputy Secretary in the Office of the late Former Vice President Cde Simon Vengai Muzenda, from 1995 until his elevation to the post of Director at ZIMSEC in 2003.

He retired from ZIMSEC in March 2012 at the end of his contract.

Before joining the Office of the President and Cabinet on promotion, Mr Ndanga had an illustrious career in the then Ministry of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture, rising through the ranks from the position of teacher to that of Regional Director in 1993.

The late Mr Ndanga co-authored English for Zimbabwe Book 1 which is an English subject course textbook for secondary schools, and was also an advisor for the English for Zimbabwe Books 2 to 4.

He is survived by his wife, Letwin and nine children.

In recognition of his professionalism and principled stance for equity and fair play in all matters, and his contribution to the development of the nation in his own humble way through his enduring works, His Excellency President Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has awarded him a State-assisted Funeral.

May his dear soul rest in eternal peace.
