The football world is in panic mode amid revelations that former Chelsea and Newcastle United striker Christmas Atsu is trapped in rubble after an earthquake in Turkey.

Devasting earthquakes hit Turkey and Syria on Monday and Atsu (31) a Ghanaian international, is still missing, according multiple reports in Europe.

Atsu, together with the sporting director of Hatayspor, the Turkish club he now plays for, were not part of the victims rescued from the rubble and the search team did not find them during the latest search conducted.

Yeni Malatyaspor, the Turkish second division side which Zimbabwean defender Teenage Hadebe used to play before before he moved to the United States, have also confirmed that their goalkeeper is missing.

The earthquake has so far claimed the lives of more than 1500 people.
